Yakuza Prequel At Official Site
I’ve had my eye on Yakuza, an upcoming release from SEGA this September, when I spent some time at their E3 booth. Whether it was excessive exposure to Kill Bill, or a personal interest in Japanese culture in general, I earmarked this game as one to look out for, and pick up providing it didn’t seem crap on release.
SEGA has now been kind enough to re-spark my interest by posting the first of four live action episodes of the Yakuza Prequel on their European site. Takeshi Miike, the director of the series, is known for explicit violence and mature themes, making him a natural choice to take on a crime ridden mini-feature.
I was quite disappointed to find out that the game itself would not be subtitled (as the prequel is), but dubbed. Although high power voice talent in the form of Michael Madsen (Budd from Kill Bill), Mark Hamill (will he use The Force?), and Rachel Leigh Cook, has been brought in for the characters, I think it loses a lot of authenticity, and a heckuva a lot of impact by dubbing over the original Japanese. Major marks off there.
The film though, is short, simple fun, and gives you a little taste of what’s to come.

But do you have to cut off a finger before you buy the game?

Only if you pay with credit card. For cash they just take your first knuckle on your index finger.
