Zero Punctuation: Entertainment, Period.

by Erin on September 10th, 2007

There’s a certain style of vapid, grunting, barely proper English style of game journalism that lacks in both originality and intelligence. Much like celebrity blogs, which post dozens of pictures of Britney Spears’ latest underpants escapade without any further commentary, some of us have gotten into a slap-happy world where it’s all about the audio-visual media and not so much about actual thought.

Enter The Escapist’s Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw. Other than having adopted the coolest game ever as his nickname, Yahtzee also appears to have a brain in his gaming skull and, armed with a British-accented motor mouth, attacks the soft, bloated underbelly of the gaming industry with a rounded mix of smarts and insults. His video feature, Zero Punctuation, recently had a go at the console wars, with hilarious results.

In describing his trials with his own personal Xbox 360, Yahtzee had the following to say, which kept me in stitches for a good minute or so, solid:

“For a few days it was like Shroedinger’s console, in a quantum state of bricked and un-bricked…”
